The system simulates the traditional three-coin method: three virtual coins are thrown six times (once per line, bottom to top). Each throw produces a yang line (solid), yin line (broken), or a changing line (old yang or old yin). The six results form your hexagram. If any lines are changing, the hexagram transforms into a second hexagram (之卦). The cast is computed by our program using a random number generator — the AI never invents or changes hexagram lines.

Your reading includes: (1) your question as you phrased it, (2) the hexagram with visual lines and any changing lines marked, (3) the classical Chinese text (卦辞/象辞) with an English rendering, (4) an AI interpretation labeled as AI-generated — not a prediction, (5) a second perspective for contrast, (6) reflection questions, and (7) a place to note one concrete next step. You can save your reading to your account and return to it later.

No. Follow-ups always stay on the reading you received: the same primary hexagram (本卦), the same changing lines (动爻), and the same transformed hexagram (变卦) are used for the whole conversation, and your original reading is never modified. Follow-ups are added as new turns in the same conversation (up to 20 per reading). If your situation itself has changed and you want a fresh cast, start a new consultation instead.

Readings save to your account automatically when you're logged in — including the follow-up conversation, your next-step action, its status, and your reflection note. Reopen them any time from the My Readings list on the consult page; everything is restored as you left it. If you were not logged in when you read, the reading stays in that browser tab only.

No. Setting the status and saving the reflection note are plain database writes — no AI is involved and nothing is deducted. What does use quota: each AI answer, whether the initial reading or a follow-up question, counts as 1 of your daily readings (3/day free, 10/day Pro, shared pool). If a generation fails, that use is refunded automatically.
