The Clinging. Perseverance furthers. It brings success. Care for the cattle. Fire clings to what it burns; consciousness clings to what it illuminates. Clarity and illumination are powerful, but they depend on what sustains them.

离：利贞，亨。畜牝牛，吉。

Image (象辞)

Brightness repeated — the image of the Clinging. Thus the great man by perpetuating brightness illuminates the four quarters of the world. Fire depends on fuel but spreads light; the wise person perpetuates understanding through continuous learning and teaching.

明两作，离；大人以继明照于四方。
