Hexagram #23
Bo · 剥
艮 above · 坤 below
Judgment (卦辞)
Splitting Apart. It does not further one to go anywhere. The power of the dark is ascending; the light is being pushed downward. This is a time of decline and disintegration. One should not attempt ambitious undertakings but rather wait for the cycle to turn.
剥:不利有攸往。
Image (象辞)
The mountain rests on the earth — the image of Splitting Apart. Thus the superior man gives security to those below by being generous and benevolent. When the mountain crumbles, it nourishes the earth below; decline must be managed with generosity to those affected.
山附于地,剥;上以厚下安宅。
Trigram Composition
Upper: ☶ Gen (艮)
Mountain · Keeping Still, Resting
Lower: ☷ Kun (坤)

Modern Application
Bo signals decline and dismantling — a phase that must be managed gracefully, protecting those most affected. Key for crisis management, downsizing ethics, and recognizing cyclical downturns.
剥标志着衰退和分解——必须优雅管理、保护最受影响者的阶段。对危机管理、裁员伦理和识别周期性下滑至关重要。
