Judgment (卦辞)

The Receptive brings about sublime success, furthering through the perseverance of a mare. The Receptive must find a direction through the Creative; only then does it have a proper goal. If one takes the lead, one becomes lost; if one follows, one finds guidance.

坤：元亨，利牝马之贞。君子有攸往，先迷后得主，利西南得朋，东北丧朋，安贞吉。

Earth's condition is receptive devotion; thus the superior man who has breadth of character carries the outer world. The lines of the Receptive represent the yielding nature of earth, which supports and sustains all things without claiming merit.

地势坤，君子以厚德载物。
