Preponderance of the Great. The ridgepole sags to the breaking point. It furthers one to have somewhere to go. Success. The structure is overburdened and near collapse — extraordinary measures are needed to prevent disaster. One must act decisively.

Image (象辞)

The lake overruns the trees — the image of Preponderance of the Great. Thus the superior man stands alone and is fearless, and retires from the world yet is not sad. When the lake rises above the trees, extraordinary circumstances demand extraordinary independence of spirit.
